Acts 10

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Mark 16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Timothy 6

2.~These things teach and exhort.

3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

4 He is proud, knowing nothing,~

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

1 And now I, Nephi, make an end of my prophesying unto you, my beloved brethren.

And I cannot write but a few things, which I know must surely come to pass;

neither can I write but a few of the words of my brother Jacob.

A) 2 Wherefore, the things which I have written sufficeth me,

save it be a few words which I must speak concerning the doctrine of Christ;

wherefore, I shall speak unto you plainly, according to the plainness of my prophesying.

3 For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding;

for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.

4 Wherefore, I would that ye should remember that I have spoken unto you concerning that prophet which the Lord showed unto me, that should baptize the Lamb of God, which should take away the sins of the world.

5 And now,

a) if the Lamb of God,

b) he being holy,

c) should have need to be baptized by water,

d) to fulfil all righteousness,

O then,

a) how much more need have we,

b) being unholy,

c) to be baptized, yea, even by water!

d) 6 And now, I would ask of you, my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfil all righteousness in being baptized by water?

7 Know ye not that he was holy?

But notwithstanding he being holy,

he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father,

and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments.

8 Wherefore, after he was baptized with water the Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove.

B) a) 9 And again, it showeth unto the children of men the straitness of the path, and the narrowness of the gate, by which they should enter, he having set the example before them.

b) 10 And he said unto the children of men: Follow thou me.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, can we follow Jesus save we shall be willing to keep the commandments of the Father?

11 And the Father said:

b) Repent ye, repent ye,

d) and be baptized in the name of my Beloved Son.

e) 12 And also, the voice of the Son came unto me, saying: He that is baptized in my name, to him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto me;

wherefore, follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do.

a)13 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent,

b) repenting of your sins,

c) witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ,

d) by baptism—yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold,

e) then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost;

yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost;

f) and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.

a) 14 But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying:

b) After ye have repented of your sins,

c) and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments,

d) by the baptism of water,

e) and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost,

f) and can speak with a new tongue,

yea, even with the tongue of angels, and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that ye had not known me.

1) 15 And I heard a voice from the Father, saying: Yea, the words of my Beloved are true and faithful.

2) He that endureth to the end,

3) the same shall be saved.

1) 16 And now, my beloved brethren,

2) I know by this that unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example of the Son of the living God,

3) he cannot be saved.

B) 17 Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me,

that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter.

For the gate by which ye should enter

b) is repentance

d) and baptism by water;

e) and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.

B) a) 18 And then are ye in this strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life;

yea, ye have entered in by the gate;

b) ye have done according to the commandments of the Father and the Son; and ye have received the Holy Ghost, which witnesses of the Father and the Son, unto the fulfilling of the promise which he hath made, that if ye entered in by the way ye should receive.

B) y) 19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you,

z) Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the “merits of him who is mighty to save”. (unique BofM Phrase)

20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men.

z) Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, “feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. (unique BofM Phrase)

B) y) 21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way;

and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God.

A) And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ,

and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.

2 Nephi 32

B) y) 1 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, I suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that which ye should do after ye have entered in by the way.

But, behold, why do ye ponder these things in your hearts?

z) 2 Do ye not remember that I said unto you

a) that after ye had received the Holy Ghost

b) ye could speak with the tongue of angels?

b) And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels

a) save it were by the Holy Ghost?

a) 3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost;

b) wherefore, they speak the words of Christ.

Wherefore, I said unto you, “feast upon the words of Christ;

for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

Z) 4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.

B) y)  5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.

6 Behold, this is the doctrine of Christ,

and there will be no more doctrine given until after he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh.

And when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do.

7 And now I, Nephi, cannot say more; the Spirit stoppeth mine utterance, and I am left to mourn because of the unbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the stiffneckedness of men;

for they will not search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge,

when it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain as word can be.

8 And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts;

and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing.

a) For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray,

b) ye would know that ye must pray;

a) for the devil spirit teacheth not a man to pray,

b)    but teacheth him that he must not pray.

9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint;

that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ,

that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee,

that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.

2 Nephi 33

1 And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people;

neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking;

for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost

 the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

2 But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.

3 But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as of great worth, and especially unto my people.

For I pray continually for them by day,

and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of them;

and I cry unto my God in faith,

and I know that he will hear my cry.

4 And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people.

And the words which I have written in weakness

will be made strong unto them;

for it persuadeth them to do good;

it maketh known unto them of their fathers;

and it speaketh of Jesus,

and persuadeth them to believe in him,

and to endure to the end,

which is life eternal.

5 And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to the plainness of the truth;

wherefore, no man will be angry at the words which I have written save he shall be of the spirit of the devil.

I glory in plainness;

I glory in truth;

I glory in my Jesus,

for he hath redeemed my soul from hell.

7 a)  I have charity for my people, and great faith in Christ that I shall meet many souls spotless at his judgment-seat.

b) I have charity for the Jew—I say Jew, because I mean them from whence I came.

c) I also have charity for the Gentiles. But behold,

for none of these can I hope except they shall be reconciled unto Christ,

and enter into the narrow gate,

and walk in the strait path which leads to life,

and continue in the path until the end of the day of probation.

A1 a) 10 And now, my beloved brethren,

b) and also Jew,

c) and all ye ends of the earth,

B1 a) hearken unto these words and

       C1, b) believe in Christ;

c) x and if ye believe not in these words

believe in Christ

y' And if ye shall believe in Christ

    x’ ye will believe in these words,

B1’a ) for they are the words

       C1, b) of Christ, and he hath given them unto me;

             and they teach all men that they should do good.

c) x 11 And if they are not the words

of Christ, judge ye—

y’ for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory,

    x’ that they are his words, at the last day;

A1’ and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar;

B1 and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness.

C1 12 And I pray the Father in the name of Christ that many of us,

if not all, may be saved in his kingdom at that great and last day.

A2 a) 13 And now, my beloved brethren,

b) all those who are of the house of Israel,

c) and all ye ends of the earth,

B2 I speak unto you as the voice of one crying from the dust:

C2 Farewell until that great day shall come.

D2 14 And you that will not partake of the goodness of God,

x) and respect the words of the Jews,

y) and also my words,

z) and the words which shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the Lamb of God,

C2’ behold, I bid you an everlasting farewell,

B2’ for these words shall condemn  you at the last day.

A2’ 15 For what I seal on earth, shall be brought against you at the judgment bar; for thus hath the Lord commanded me, and I must obey. Amen.

3 Nephi 11

28 And according as I have commanded you thus shall ye baptize.

And there shall be no disputations among you, as there have hitherto been;

neither shall there be disputations among you concerning the points of my doctrine, as there have hitherto been.

29 For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another.

30 Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger, one against another;

but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.

31 Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will declare unto you my doctrine.

32 And this is my doctrine,

and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me;

and I bear record of the Father,

and the Father beareth record of me,

and the Holy Ghost beareth record of the Father and me; and I bear record that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me.

33 And whoso believeth in me,

and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God.

34 And whoso believeth not in me,

and is not baptized, shall be damned.

35 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from the Father;

and whoso believeth in me

believeth in the Father also;

and unto him will the Father bear record of me, for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost.

36 And thus will the Father bear record of me,

and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me;

 for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one.

a) 37 And again I say unto you,

b) ye must repent,

c) and become as a little child,

d) and be baptized in my name,

e) or ye can in nowise receive these things.

a) 38 And again I say unto you,

b) ye must repent,

d) and be baptized in my name,

c) and become as a little child,

e) or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

39 Verily, verily, I say unto you,

that this is my doctrine,

and whoso buildeth upon this

buildeth upon my rock,

and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.

40 And whoso shall declare more or less than this,

and establish it for my doctrine, the same cometh of evil,

and is not built upon my rock;

but he buildeth upon a sandy foundation,

and the gates of hell stand open to receive such when the floods come and the winds beat upon them.

3 Nephi 21

6 For thus it behooveth the Father that it should come forth from the Gentiles, that he may show forth his power unto the Gentiles, for this cause that the Gentiles, if they will not harden their hearts, that they may repent and come unto me and be baptized in my name and know of the true points of my doctrine, that they may be numbered among my people, O house of Israel;

1Nephi 15

14 And at that day shall the remnant of our seed know that they are of the house of Israel, and that they are the covenant people of the Lord;

and then shall they know and come to the knowledge of their forefathers,

and also to the knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer, which was ministered unto their fathers by him;

wherefore, they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer and the very points of his doctrine, that they may know how to come unto him and be saved.

Alma 41

8 Now, the decrees of God are unalterable; therefore, the way is prepared that whosoever will may walk therein and be saved.

9 And now behold, my son, do not risk one more offense against your God upon those points of doctrine, which ye have hitherto risked to commit sin.

1 Nephi 10

7 And he spake also concerning a prophet who should come before the Messiah, to prepare the way of the Lord

8 Yea, even he should go forth and cry in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight; for there standeth one among you whom ye know not; and he is mightier than I, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose. And much spake my father concerning this thing.

9 And my father said he should baptize in Bethabara, beyond Jordan; and he also said he should baptize with water; even that he should baptize the Messiah with water.

10 And after he had baptized the Messiah with water, he should behold and bear record that he had baptized the Lamb of God, who should take away the sins of the world.

11 And it came to pass after my father had spoken these words he spake unto my brethren concerning the gospel which should be preached among the Jews, and also concerning the dwindling of the Jews in unbelief. And after they had slain the Messiah, who should come, and after he had been slain he should rise from the dead, and should make himself manifest, by the Holy Ghost, unto the Gentiles.

1 Nephi 11

27 And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove.

JST, Luke 3:4–11

Joseph Smith Translation

4 As it is written in the book of the prophet Esaias; and these are the words, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, and make his paths straight.

For behold, and lo, he shall come, as it is written in the book of the prophets,

to take away the sins of the world,

and to bring salvation unto the heathen nations,

to gather together those who are lost, who are of the sheepfold of Israel;

Yea, even the dispersed and afflicted; and also to prepare the way, and make possible the preaching of the gospel unto the Gentiles;

And to be a light unto all who sit in darkness, unto the uttermost parts of the earth; to bring to pass the resurrection from the dead, and to ascend up on high, to dwell on the right hand of the Father,

Until the fullness of time, and the law and the testimony shall be sealed, and the keys of the kingdom shall be delivered up again unto the Father;

To administer justice unto all; to come down in judgment upon all, and to convince all the ungodly of their ungodly deeds, which they have committed; and all this in the day that he shall come;

10 For it is a day of power; yea, every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth;

11 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
